We were very happy to announce the integration of the new Google Search Console API last weekend. But along with this awesome news, there’s also a drawback. In fact, the current Google Webmaster Tools integration will be shut down on October 20, 2015 as Google announced it will turn off the search analytics download script.
That’s right. This means all your current Google Webmaster Tools reports and dashboards will stop working if nothing is done.
Obviously, we thought of it and everything will be ok. Actually, the update is pretty simple.
What do I need to do to move my dashboards from Webmaster Tools to the new Google Search Console?
Actually, all you need to do is to go into your DashThis account and add your Google Search Console account. That’s it. We take care of the rest of the process from there.
There’s just a small catch. Here are some guidelines:
- You must add only one Google Search Console account. Otherwise, we’ll take the first one to update your Webmaster Tools reports.
- All Webmaster Tools profiles must be authorized in that Google Search Console account. Otherwise, we won’t be able to import the Search Analytics data.
We’ll be running an update process on a regular basis to move all dashboards to the new Google Search Console. You can also contact our support team and we’ll run the update process in real time.
What if it’s not working?
It might happen that for some reason the update process doesn’t work for a specific case. We are very confident that it will work for 95%+ of your reports, but some exceptions might still happen.
So what do you do? Contact our support team and we’ll investigate the cause and fix it asap. If you have access to the Webmaster Tools profile from your Google Search account, there’s no reason the update won’t work.
In conclusion, we are sorry for this inconvenience, but it’s a blessing in disguise as the new Google Search Console API is way more powerful and easy to use than our current Webmaster Tools integration.
