Facebook provides a very powerful API to access its Facebook Insights data, and we recently integrated this into DashThis. It’s now easier than ever to create a great social media dashboard!

Metrics and dimensions

 

These are the available metrics and dimensions for your facebook insights reporting dashboard:

Name Description
Check-ins The number of times people checked into a place. Please note that this metric will only show data for check-ins that occurred during your selected time period.
Mobile Check-ins The number of times people checked into a place using mobile phones. Please note that this metric will only show data for check-ins that occurred during your selected time period.
Unique Check-ins The number of people who checked into a place. Please note that this metric will only show data for check-ins that occurred during your selected time period.
Unique Mobile Check-ins The number of people who checked into a place using mobile phones. Please note that this metric will only show data for check-ins that occurred during your selected time period.
Consumptions Per 1000 Impressions The total number of Page or Post consumptions divided by 1000 Impressions.
Total Social Impact The total number of reactions on all posts, plus all the shares and all the page likes for the period.
Action Button Clicks Total number of clicks on the Page CTA button by people who are logged in to Facebook. Please note that this metric will only show data for actions that occurred during your selected time period.
Cumulative Total Page Reach The number of people (unique users) who had any content from your Page or about your Page enter their screen over the course of this dashboard’s period. This includes posts, check-ins, ads, social information from people who interact with your Page, and more. Data is collected daily and cumulated over the period, so if a unique user had content from your Page enter their screen multiple times of the course of the period, they will be counted multiple times. Please note that this metric will only show data for actions that occurred during your selected time period.
Fans (Page Likes) The number of people who have liked your Page. Please note that this metric will only show data for actions that occurred during your selected time period.
Page Consumptions The number of times people clicked on any of your content. Please note that this metric will only show data for actions that occurred during your selected time period.
Page Engaged Users The number of people who engaged with your Page. Engagement includes any click. Please note that this metric will only show data for actions that occurred during your selected time period.
Page Engagement Rate The number of people who engaged with your Page divided by the number of people who saw any of your content. Please note that this metric will only show data for actions that occurred during your selected time period.
Page Impressions The total number of impressions seen of any content associated with your Page. Please note that this metric will only show data for actions that occurred during your selected time period.
Page Negative Feedback The number of times people took a negative action (e.g., un-liked or hid a post). Please note that this metric will only show data for actions that occurred during your selected time period.
Page Organic Impressions The number of times your posts were seen in News Feed or Ticker or on visits to your Page. These impressions can be Fans or non-Fans. Please note that this metric will only show data for actions that occurred during your selected time period.
Page Organic Reach The number of people who visited your Page, or saw your Page or one of its posts in News Feed or Ticker. These impressions can be Fans or non-Fans. Please note that this metric will only show data for actions that occurred during your selected time period.
Page Paid Impressions The number of impressions of a Sponsored Story or Ad pointing to your Page. Please note that this metric will only show data for actions that occurred during your selected time period.
Page Paid Reach The number of people who saw a sponsored story or Ad about your Page. Please note that this metric will only show data for actions that occurred during your selected time period.
Page Positive Feedback The number of times people took a postive action (liked, commented, shared, rsvp, answered a questions or claimed an offer). Please note that this metric will only show data for actions that occurred during your selected time period.

Page Unlikes The number of people who unliked your Page. Please note that this metric will only show data for actions that occurred during your selected time period.
Page Views The number of times a Page’s profile has been viewed by logged in and logged out people. Please note that this metric will only show data for actions that occurred during your selected time period.
Page Viral Impressions The number of impressions of a story published by a friend about your Page. These stories include liking your Page, posting to your Page’s Timeline, liking, commenting on or sharing one of your Page posts, answering a Question you posted, RSVPing to one of your events, mentioning your Page, phototagging your Page or checking in at your Place. Please note that this metric will only show data for actions that occurred during your selected time period.
Page Viral Reach The number of people who saw your Page or one of its posts from a story published by a friend. These stories include liking your Page, posting to your Page’s Timeline, liking, commenting on or sharing one of your Page posts, answering a Question you posted, RSVPing to one of your events, mentioning your Page, phototagging your Page or checking in at your Place. Please note that this metric will only show data for actions that occurred during your selected time period.
Subscribers Gained The number of new people who have liked your Page. Please note that this metric will only show data for actions that occurred during your selected time period.
Total Actions on Page The number of clicks on your Page’s contact info and call-to-action button. Please note that this metric will only show data for actions that occurred during your selected time period.
Daily Total Page Reach The number of people (unique users) who had any content from your Page or about your Page enter their screen over the last daily period. This includes posts, check-ins, ads, social information from people who interact with your Page, and more.
Weekly Total Page Reach The number of people (unique users) who had any content from your Page or about your Page enter their screen over the last weekly period. This includes posts, check-ins, ads, social information from people who interact with your Page, and more.
28 Days Total Page Reach The number of people (unique users) who had any content from your Page or about your Page enter their screen over the last 28 days. This includes posts, check-ins, ads, social information from people who interact with your Page, and more.

The metrics in Posts, Post, and Post video will showcase data only from posts published during the selected time period. For example, if you search for Posts Likes in April, you will have all the Likes on the posts you published in April. If more likes occurred in May for those same April posts, the new data will be included in the KPI.

However, Page, Page video, Reactions, and Check-ins metrics will showcase the data for all events that occurred during the selected time period, no matter when the post was published. For example, if you look at Page Impressions for April, you would see all the Impressions that occured in April, even Impressions of pages created prior to the month of April.

 

 

Please note that the data in your dashboard does not take into consideration the replies of a comment, only the comments themselves. In addition, the data displayed in your dashboard relates to the post itself, not its shares. For example, if your post gets 3 comments with 2 replies to those comments, your dashboard will show 3 comments, not 5. And if your post got 45 likes directly on your page, but 10 likes from its shares, your dashboard will only show the 45 likes on the original post, not the total 55.

In other words, Facebook’s API only gives access to the data as it is displayed under your post, not the data displayed in the Performance for Your Post section, as seen below.

Also, Facebook doesn’t allow the exportation of your Reach Metrics with a personalized time frame. Facebook only allow the fetching of data for the last day, last week, or the last 28 days. This is why DashThis’ metrics are : Daily Total Page Reach, Weekly Total Page Reach, and 28 Days Total Page Reach.

You can, of course, use a Daily Page Reach in a monthly or weekly dashboard, however we recommend using the 28 Days Total Page Reach for a monthly dashboards, Weekly Total Page Reach for weekly, and the Daily Page Reach for daily dashboards.
